SE6 Servo Drives with Safety Functions
The most commonly used safety feature in drive controllers is the STO function – Safe Torque Off. Based on this, the SS1 – Safe Stop 1 – function can also be implemented.
But what if more advanced safety functions are required?
STOBER provides the answer with its SE6 motor controller, which offers a broader range of integrated safety features.
Below is a comparison between a traditional safety system (diagram on the left) and the new SE6-based solution (diagram on the right).
The SE6 solution requires significantly fewer components in the application, resulting in cost reduction and simplified system architecture.

Below is a description of the safety functions implemented by the SE6 servo drives in accordance with DIN EN 61800-5-2:
-
STO – Safe Torque Off: safe shutdown of torque
-
SS1 – Safe Stop 1: motor braking followed by activation of STO
-
SS2 – Safe Stop 2: motor braking followed by activation of SOS
-
SLS – Safely-Limited Speed: safely limited motor speed
-
SSR – Safe Speed Range: safe speed range
-
SDI – Safe Direction: safe rotational direction
-
SOS – Safe Operating Stop: similar to STO, but torque is not switched off
-
SLI – Safely-Limited Increment: safely limited incremental movement
-
SPL – Safely-Limited Position: safely limited position
-
SBC – Safe Brake Control: safe brake actuation
-
SRL – Safe Restart Lock: prevention of unintended restart
-
SLS-M – Safe Limited Speed – monitoring
-
SSR-M – Safe Speed Range – monitoring
-
SDI-M – Safe Direction – monitoring
-
SOS-M – Safe Operating Stop – monitoring
-
SLI-M – Safely-Limited Increment – monitoring
-
SLP-M – Safely-Limited Position – monitoring
-
SBT – Safe Brake Test: safe brake function testing
