PROFINET: STOBER Switches to PROFIdrive and PROFIsafe
STOBER has enhanced its SC6 and SI6 drive controllers with additional PROFINET functionalities.
Thanks to the advanced SU6 safety module, the controllers now offer an attractive solution for STO (Safe Torque Off) and SS1 (Safe Stop 1) via PROFIsafe.
In the field of motion control, STOBER now supports a wide range of application classes in accordance with the standard PROFIdrive device profile.
Most importantly, the communication interfaces of the drive controllers are also PROFINET-certified.

With the SC6 and SI6 series from STÖBER, design engineers always have the right drive controller at hand.
The SC6 series offers compact, standalone solutions for up to two drive axes with rated output currents of up to 2 x 19 A.
The SI6 series is similarly slim, dynamic, and ideal for multi-axis drive systems with rated output currents of up to 50 A.
Power is supplied by central PS6 power modules.
Until now, these cost-effective and space-saving drive controllers have been used primarily in EtherCAT-based applications.

New PROFINET Functions
STOBER has now added additional PROFINET functionalities to both the SI6 and SC6 series. The drive specialist has developed the SU6 safety module for functional safety, available as an option for the drive controllers. It provides users with a cost-effective solution for the safety functions STO and SS1 via the PROFIsafe safety protocol.
This enables the use of the drive controllers in systems with high safety requirements according to SIL 3, PL e, Category 4.
Design engineers can, for example, implement emergency stop functions in accordance with EN 13850 or prevent unexpected start-up as per EN 14118.
The communication interface features of both drive series are also PROFINET-certified. This certification was granted as part of type testing by the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) and DGUV (German Social Accident Insurance).
To support complex motion control applications, STOBER now enables integration of the axis controller according to PROFIdrive application classes AC1 and AC3 – for speed control with setpoint input and axis controller-based positioning.
In the next development phase, application class AC4 will be introduced for controller-based positioning.
