Safety overload couplings BHH with metal bellows. With clamping hubs for backlash-free connection of two shafts with length compensation. Torque range: 3-500 Nm, outer diameter: 49-129 mm, bore diameter: 6-65 mm. Optionally laser-welded, chemically nickel-plated, or stainless steel.

Functionality of overload safety couplings

Backlash-free torque transmission is achieved using hardened balls (1) positioned in conical recesses (2).

The balls (1) are pressed into the recesses by a disc spring (4) and a sliding ring.
The disengagement torque can be continuously adjusted using the adjustment nut (6) according to the overload range specified in the catalog.

In case of overload, the balls are pushed out of the conical recesses, and the sliding ring (3) is retracted by the disc springs (4). This completely separates the driving and driven sides without transmitting torque. The residual torque is < 2-5% of the overload torque.

The axial movement of the sliding ring (3) can activate a mechanical limit switch or a proximity switch (5) to shut down the drive.

When disengaging, the spring force is reduced to a very small value. The remaining force of the disc spring (4) is sufficient to re-engage the clutch.

Re-engagement is only possible at low speeds after the fault has been resolved.

Response time: 2-5 ms.
